Magnolia

This is the magnolia in my front yard. Brunswick and Melbourne i love you for your many Magnolia trees.
The wedding we had on this weekend was at Lindenderry in Red Hill. Tall vases of magnolia and little vases of winter wonders below. violets, hyacinth, sweet peas, hellebore, anemones, freesias and daphne.....My van smelt so good i got a head ache on the drive down. After very swift 6hour set up It looked so magical that the bride didn't want to leave at the end of the night....she stayed and kept us company while we packed up.
After jamming as much magnolia as we could fit in the back of the wee van we were back at out little cottage i rented and in bed watching Breaking Bad by 2.30am.....whew after getting up to go to market at 430am (even if i did cat nap between 7pm and 10pm) it was mammoth day!
Thank you to the best team ever....Caitlin and Jac you were amazing. J the best possible floral assistant/driver/sweeper/clearerupera and all round moral support for me. He's one in a million.
Red Hill put on a perfect Sunday for us too,sun shine and 16 degrees... markets, beach and the one and only Peninsula Hot Springs...oh yes, pretty much the only thing which will make you feel better after a 21 hour day and 5 hours sleep. Soak away your aches and pains.
The magnolia we cleared after the wedding is sitting proud as punch in the the front window of Jac's shop Jaclyn Roma in Eaglemont

country wedding

When this wonderful family said that they would provide all of the garden roses for me to use on the tables for this beautiful county wedding, I was a little worried that i would turn up and I'd have a few sad blooms to work with....When I arrived from Melbourne with a van full of peonies and other bits and pieces that I had got to go with the garden roses, I set myself up in a neighbour's shed.... i was amazed and thrilled and SO happy to find buckets of the most incredible garden roses i have ever smelt or seen. It was one of the most magical days I've had...every single rose was a complete pleasure and the fragrance was indescribable ...under a hot tin roof on a 30something degree day i toiled until i had everything arranged and packed away in the fridge ( the neighbours used to grow wild flowers until the drought, and the old cool room was still there and turned on for me!)
I could barely sleep i was so excited about setting it all up in the marquee. I got up extra early and went to another neighbouring property to pick eucalyptus foliage to make giant wreaths for the church...i was up a tree for the sun rise. ( really, does it get much better?)

tree wedding

We made this tree in the middle of a restaurant for a wedding earlier this year. It looked amazing as it got dark and the candles twinkled...you really had to be there.

Wow, what a gorgeous day it was for an Engagement party and an even better day for a surprise Wedding! Amy Moss sure knows how to please a crowd and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. Do take a look at one of my favorite blogs, where Amy describes the day so perfectly. http://www.eatdrinkchic.com/

cecilia fox wins gold! wow weeee

It really gave me a little fright! I was really happy with what i had done for the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show but i didn't think that anyone else would get it! My jumble of old cardboard boxes and whimsical floral wonder. It was a lovely surprise this morning.
